Galleries: Duck Diving 2018

Duck Diving holds my big thoughts about life.

These images are adapted from a series of books I continue to work on.  They playfully explore my thoughts about the field, creation, evolution, expansion of the field into a multi-verse, quantum physics, meta physics, spirituality and consciousness.  They document my evolving philosophy of life and my limited understanding of who I am within it (and outside of it).

I was travelling in Europe and Morocco for almost two and a half years from 2016, living in a camper van and working using my camera and computer. The mask in these images is an antique Japanese Noh-Drama mask which is resident in the camper van. She was a gift to my friend from his grandmother Yvonne who had visited Kyoto with her husband Leon Rosenfeld. Yvonne was an astrophysicist and Leon one of the pioneers of quantum theory. After making these works I was curious to see what “the Google” could tell me about the mask and was astounded to read: “Noh is often based on tales from traditional literature with a supernatural being transformed into human form as a hero narrating a story.”  Which resonates true with my thinking and reinforces my expression within the work.

There is a place before time and space where there is no thing - no matter.  All there is, is a constant-ness, the never-ending vastness that is everywhere, but nowhere in particular.  It is full and empty -   silent and deafening. This is the un-place where there are more dreams and plans than will ever hatch.   Where all there is to be known exists and where secrets and mysteries reaching far beyond our small imaginings hover.

The un-place is where every thing exists unformed - all at the same time, but in the absence of time.  This is where we all exist in every possibility of our being-ness.  But in this un-place there is no being, there is no space - there just is, is.  Everything is in situ all at once unseparated by the laws of time and space.  Everything all mixed up together into a bland soup of no-thing-ness.

From this place other worlds create.  It’s where we go to float in dreams. Where thoughts find form and run away manifesting in realities far beyond the thinker.  It's the place where brilliance incubates.

It’s easy to find - It’s there at the very back behind all the thoughts - the constant stillness until …
