Galleries: Evolution of Pulse (2018)
Fran Maguire made approximately 1500 ceramic pulses which have seeded around the world. The largest body comprised 700 individual 'pulses' in a solo exhibition I'mPulse shown at The Suter public art gallery, Nelson, New Zealand in 2013.
In digital form Fran is able to explore thee ideas differently. Having made these works and given a bit of time, space and perspective she says that she can see very clearly that these works on paper reflect her own life to this point and reassure her about her future.
The pulses once contained and orderly take on a different life.
On the other side of the chaos ultimately there is the opportunity to evolve into something less physical and bound. In the last image “Transformation” of the recent series, the nails (and shadows) that the pulses once relied on, are evident.
